Water Conservation

Remaining Water Wise in Sierra Madre - Click Here

Efficient water use is a way of life in Sierra Madre, and it is important to remember that permanent water use restrictions remain in effect regardless of the drought status.

Mandatory Water Conservation Regulations

  • Even-numbered addresses are limited to landscape irrigation on Mondays and Thursdays.

  • Odd-numbered addresses and addresses ending in fractions are limited to landscape irrigation on Tuesdays and Fridays.

  • Lawn, landscaping, and other turf areas cannot be watered between the hours of 10am and 4pm and cannot water the sidewalks or streets.

  • Water leaks must be immediately fixed.

  • Washing of sidewalks, walkways, patios, driveways, or parking areas cannot be done with a water hose.

  • No water can be used to clean, fill or maintain levels in decorative fountains unless such water is part of a recycling system.

  • The use of a hose to wash an automobile is prohibited, except where the hose is fitted with a shut-off nozzle or device attached to it that causes it to cease dispensing water immediately when not in use.

Water Billing Chart

There is an appeals process for residents that believe their water conservation targets cannot fulfill their current household needs. Please note that these conservation targets reflect any previously processed appeals at the 20% conservation target levels and have been adjusted from that starting point to reach the 30% conservation targets. A new application for appeal is required for residents with concerns about the conservation targets assigned to their property. For information about the appeals process, please contact City Hall or download the Water Conservation Ordinance Appeal Application.

Additional information is available on the City’s website, or by calling the City of Sierra Madre at (626) 355-7135. Please look for water conservation information in your future water bills, in the newspaper, on the City’s website, and through the City Newsletter, The Village View.
