Gas Powered Landscaping Equipment
Effective September 1, 2024, the City of Sierra Madre will prohibit the use of gas-powered leaf blowers within its jurisdiction. However, the use of electric-powered leaf blowers is allowed, subject to the restricted hours of:
- 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday
- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday
- All day on Sunday
Equipment Discounts of up to 85% for Small Businesses and Sole Proprietor Landscapers
Technology for electric-powered leaf blowers has advanced significantly. Some of these units are now more powerful than gas-powered models and can operate for over an hour on a single charge. There is currently one program which offers discounts to small businesses and sole proprietor landscapers for exchanging gas-powered leaf blowers for electric leaf blowers:
South Coast AQMD
The South Coast AQMD offers a Commercial Lawn & Garden Equipment Exchange program with rebates of up to 85% of the cost of an electric leaf blower. Limited funding is available. For more information, please visit the South Coast AQMD's website.
