Parking

The Sierra Madre Police Department enforces both City and State parking regulations. While most parking violations are issued on streets and roadways, parking citations also may be issued in City parking lots, other public facilities such as schools, and also on private property providing proper signs are in place. Handicap parking violations are issued on any property providing the parking stall is marked and signed in accordance with the California Vehicle Code requirements.

City Owned Public Parking Lots
City owned public parking lots are available to the public for parking while visiting or conducting business in the City. The parking lots have posted signs advising the vehicle owners of certain restrictions while parking in these parking lots. Please read the signs
in the parking lots carefully to avoid your vehicle being issued a parking citation, towed and stored.

Parking on Public Streets
Parking on public streets is available to the public for parking while visiting or conducting business in the City. Vehicles parked or left standing upon a highway for 72 or more consecutive hours may by cited, towed and stored.

Commercial vehicles may not be parked for more than five hours in residential district except if loading and/or unloading property.

Overnight Parking

Overnight parking without a City issued overnight parking permit is prohibited on all City streets from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Saturday.

Temporary parking permits may be purchased online one each night spanning up to seven days.

Annual parking permits may be purchased online when all existing legal parking spaces on your property are being used by operating vehicles, and when no additional legal parking space exists. This does not apply to garages being used to store household items instead of cars.
