City Council
The Sierra Madre City Council is comprised of five members elected to four-year terms. The Council is responsible for general City policy, as well as for the appointment of the City Manager, City Attorney, and members of the City's Boards and Commissions. It also serves as the governing body for the Community Redevelopment Agency and Public Financing Authority.
City Council Meetings
The City Council meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Unless otherwise announced, the meetings are held in the City Council Chambers at 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd. and typically begin at 5:30PM.
Agendas and staff reports are available online no later than 8pm on the Friday before the Council Meeting.
Council meetings are webcast live and also archived on the City's SMTV3 program archives. The meetings are televised on Time Warner Channel 3. The City Council meetings are rebroadcast on Channel 3 Tuesday at 10am and Wednesday at 7pm. DVD copies of the meetings are available for check-out at the Public Library.
Public Comment
The Council will listen to the public on any item on the meeting's agenda. The City Council cannot legally take action on any item not scheduled on the agenda. Such items may be referred for administrative action or scheduled on a future agenda. Comments will generally be limited to three minutes per speaker.
Public Comment for Items on the Agenda
Persons wishing to speak on any item on the agenda will be called at the time the agenda item is brought forward. Persons wishing to speak on closed session items have a choice of doing so either immediately prior to the closed session or at the time for comments on items at the open session.
Public Comment for Items Not on the Agenda
Time shall be devoted to audience participation early on the agenda. If additional time is needed, the Mayor will allow for same at the end of the agenda.
