Citywide Architectural Survey: July–August 2025

The City of Sierra Madre is working with the National Park Service to conduct an architectural survey throughout the city. This effort supports wildfire recovery and helps preserve our community’s historic character.

Why is this survey happening?

The survey will:

  • Document architectural features of properties impacted by this past winter’s wildfires.

  • Help identify buildings that may qualify for the National Register of Historic Places.

  • Support future preservation and planning efforts.

What residents can expect

  • Survey staff are National Park Service employees.

  • They’ll wear orange safety vests and carry City-issued ID.

  • Staff will photograph and take notes on building exteriors only.

  • No one will enter homes or buildings.

  • All work will be done from the public right of way.
