The City of Sierra Madre is a proud partner of WaterSense, a voluntary partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It is both a label for water-efficient products and a resource for helping you save water. Since the program's inception in 2006, WaterSense has helped consumers save trillions of gallons of water and billions in water and energy bills.

Why WaterSense?
The WaterSense label makes it simple to find water-efficient products, new homes, and programs that meet EPA's criteria for efficiency and performance. WaterSense-labeled products and services are certified to use at least 20 percent less water, save energy, and perform as well as or better than regular models.

Watersense labeled products can save families 38,000 gallons of water per year by retrofitting its home with Watersense labeled fixtures, which can be purchased at most large retailers. Product categories eligible for the WaterSense label include toilets, bathroom faucets and accessories, showerheads, flushing urinals, weather-based irrigation controllers, and spray sprinkler bodies

The San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District offers rebates for Watersense products such as:
toilets
urinals
weather based irrigation controllers
rotating sprinkler heads

Outdoor Water Use
Did you know that residential outdoor water use across the United States accounts for nearly 8 billion gallons of water each day, mainly for landscape irrigation? The average U.S. household uses more water outdoors than for showering and washing clothes combined.
By following some simple steps, you can have a water-smart landscape that's beautiful, healthy, and easy to maintain:

Design a beautiful and efficient water smart landscape that gives your home a desirable home appeal.

Timing is everything! Learn when and how much to water to avoid wasteful runoff and keep a healthy landscape. Or consider if it's time for a Sprinkler Spruce-Up!

Reduce overwatering by upgrading to WaterSense labeled products if you have an in-ground irrigation system.
