In April 2008, the voters approved Measure U, an increase in the City's Utility Users Tax and Measure UA, the advisory measure which provided guidance that the revenues generated by the UUT increase be used to fund public safety services. The voter approved ordinance requires the formation of an Oversight Committee that is charged with reviewing and making recommendations concerning the previous fiscal year audit in regards to the expenditure of funds collected and/or remitted as relates to Measure UA.
