Dedication of the Drought Resistant Landscaping and Speed Learning Workshop at City Hall

On Friday July 21, 2015 at 8:15 PM a Pasadena resident was traveling to a friend’s home in Sierra Madre when he was confronted by armed suspects. The victim was traveling eastbound on Sierra Madre Blvd from Michillinda when he noticed a dark colored sedan tail gating him. As the victim stopped for the stop sign at Sunnyside Ave. the suspect vehicle pulled up on the left side of the victim’s vehicle.

The Sierra Madre Police Department will be holding the Annual National Night Out Event on Tuesday August 4, 2015. This community and family oriented event will take place from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Memorial Park, located at 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.

On Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 3:38 pm, a Sierra Madre resident brought a WWII (pineapple type) grenade in a box into the police station for destruction. Not knowing the status of the old device police personnel immediately moved the box with the grenade to a secure place between the Police Department and City Hall. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s (LASD) Bomb Squad was notified and responded to the City.

This is an opportunity for families to spend time together and enjoy a great movie in the fresh air. Movies will be screened in the Memorial Park Bandshell, 222 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., on alternating Fridays during the summer and will begin at approximately 8:00 pm.

Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and their dancing shoes as well as support local organizations that may provide refreshments. There will be something for everyone as this year’s featured bands represent a wide array of musical genres.
